For many South Carolina students, the path to higher education just got a little brighter. The South Carolina State Fair has officially opened applications for its 29th annual Ride of Your Life Scholarship program, offering a total of $540,000 in college scholarships to high school seniors across the state.
Applications are open now through March 15, 2026, and students can apply online at scstatefair.org/scholarships.
This year brings expanded opportunity. Thanks to a $40,000 donation from Circle K and EMC Tickets, the fair is increasing the number of scholarships from 50 to 54 awards. One of those scholarships is designated specifically for a Circle K employee or dependent.
Nancy Smith, general manager of the South Carolina State Fair, says the scholarship program reflects the fair’s long-standing commitment to the people of South Carolina.
“As we look ahead to the 250th anniversary of the United States, we’re proud that the South Carolina State Fair has been part of this state’s story since 1869 — bringing people together and strengthening communities. Our scholarship program is one way we continue that legacy today by investing in education and helping South Carolina students put down strong roots for lifelong success.”
Since the Ride of Your Life Scholarship program began in 1997, the South Carolina State Fair has awarded nearly $6 million in scholarships. While many people associate the fair with rides, food, and fall traditions, the organization works year-round to support education and community initiatives statewide.
