Carlos Creations SC: A Young Entrepreneur Building His Future, One Print at a Time

At just 15 years old, Carlos is already building something remarkable. A student at St. Joseph Catholic School, Carlos balances typical teenage hobbies — playing the saxophone, creating his own comic books, video gaming, and collecting Pokémon cards — with running his own business: Carlos Creations SC, a 3D printing venture that blends fun and function.

The idea for Carlos Creations SC started with his friends. “They really enjoyed the things I was making and often asked me to create something for them,” he says. That encouragement, combined with watching his mom work at the Anderson Farmers Market, lit the spark. Soon, Carlos was not only making unique 3D prints but also setting up shop to share them with the wider community.

His passion for 3D printing began at a Teen Workshop at Tri-County College, where he experienced the magic of turning digital designs into tangible creations. “It was really cool to see something I designed on the computer turn into a real object,” he recalls. That first project — a fidget toy — showed him the possibilities. “I had only seen those kinds of things in stores, and now I was making one myself.”

Carlos Creations SC offers both playful and practical designs. His booth features fidget toys, dragons, and collectible figures, as well as planters, pencil holders, shelves, and replacement parts. But if you ask him, the spirals will always hold a special place in his heart — they were the first items he ever sold at the farmers market.

He also takes custom orders. Customers bring him ideas, whether it’s a favorite character or a practical solution, and Carlos designs and prints it to fit their needs. This flexibility not only sparks creativity but also helps him understand what people want most.

Selling at the Anderson Farmers Market has been both a challenge and a joy. “The most exciting part is seeing people marvel at the prints on the table and watching kids play with the toys,” Carlos says. The hardest part? Deciding what to create next. “I’m always trying to keep my booth interesting, and sometimes it’s tough to know if something will sell. But I’ve learned that taking chances and trying new ideas is part of running a business.”

Community interaction has also been key. Shoppers often suggest new creations, which Carlos loves. “It gives me new ideas I might not have thought of on my own.”

Behind Carlos’s entrepreneurial spirit is the steady support of his family. His dad helps with the technical side of printing, making sure everything runs smoothly, while his mom boosts his confidence at the market, teaching him customer service skills and how to manage money. “They both believe in me, and that really pushes me to keep going,” Carlos says gratefully.

His friends and classmates are equally impressed. “It makes me proud when they ask me to make things for them and tell me how amazed they are. Their reactions remind me of how far I’ve come and push me to keep growing.”

While 3D printing is already shaping Carlos’s future, his dreams reach even further. He hopes to one day combine his love for comics and storytelling with his design skills, creating original stories and bringing them to life through figures and collectibles. “My goal is for Carlos Creations SC to show both my design and storytelling and turn it into something people will remember,” he says.

And his advice to other kids thinking of starting their own venture? “Never give up and always persevere, even when it gets tough. Sometimes things don’t work out the way you want at first, but if you keep trying and learning, you’ll get better. Believe in your ideas, even if they seem small.”

For now, Carlos is enjoying the journey — learning design, customer service, and money management, all while delighting customers with his one-of-a-kind creations. From that first fidget toy to custom orders and market favorites, each piece is a step toward a bigger dream.

At 15, Carlos is more than just a student or hobbyist. He’s a young entrepreneur proving that creativity, perseverance, and family support can turn passion into purpose — and maybe even into a lifelong career.
