As the visionary behind Glam Beauty Bar and Spa and the soon-to-launch Gather by Glam, Ashlee is redefining self-care in Anderson with a blend of beauty, wellness, and community.
From Dream to Downtown
When Ashlee first opened Glam Beauty Bar and Spa, her goal was simple: create a one-stop destination where people could relax, recharge, and glamorize—all under one roof.
“I wanted one space where clients could pamper themselves,” she shares. “Get a massage and a haircut, a spray tan after a mani/pedi. A true all-in-one experience.”
But starting a business was no small feat. “It was scary,” she admits. “You worry about hiring the right staff, pricing, whether people will even show up. But we pushed through, and seven years later, we’re still growing.”
That growth led to a big move: relocating Glam to a beautiful new location in downtown Anderson. “We love the family-friendly vibe downtown has developed over the past few years. Being here gives us better exposure and adds so much convenience for clients.”
What Sets Glam Apart
Ashlee credits her team and consistency as key ingredients in Glam’s success. “We don’t see a lot of competition for full day-spa services in our area, which helps, but the real difference is our staff. From the front desk to our technicians, clients appreciate the familiar, friendly faces.”
The spa’s offerings have also evolved with time. “We’re always learning new techniques and adjusting our pricing to offer membership options that work for everyone,” she says. “It’s about creating a peaceful, personalized experience.”
Introducing Gather by Glam
This spring, Ashlee is expanding her brand with Gather by Glam, a boutique fitness and wellness studio offering a unique mix of fitness classes, spray tanning, and community dance nights.
“I wanted a space that focuses on health, confidence, and connection,” she says. “In addition to daily classes, we’ll have line and shag dance nights, and even host private events like parties and showers on weekends.”
The class lineup will include BARRE, Pilates, senior-focused anti-aging workouts, dance-based cardio, and more. The official opening is planned for May 2025, and those interested can follow Glam’s social media for updates and sign-ups.
“Beauty and fitness go hand in hand,” Ashlee notes. “They both boost your physical and mental health, leading to more confidence and a better outlook.”
Balancing Business & Family
Juggling two businesses and three kids (plus a fur baby) is no easy task, but Ashlee makes it work—thanks in large part to her sense of purpose and strong support system.
“My husband always tells me I take on too much,” she laughs. “But I get a lot of thinking done during massages! Supporting Anderson and helping it grow is a priority for me, especially while raising kids here.”
Each day starts with a calendar check and a family game plan. “We try to make sure we don’t forget a kid! Schedules shift constantly, so it’s a balancing act, hour by hour.”
Her children are closely involved in her journey. “They love the flexibility my work gives me to attend school pickups and events, but they’ve also seen the late nights, the construction, the tears, and the triumphs. They’re learning firsthand what it means to work hard.”
Wisdom for Future Mompreneurs
Her advice for moms looking to launch a business? “Be ready. No one fully prepares you for the time, financial challenges, and tough choices. But when the dream becomes reality, it’s all worth it.”
Ashlee also sees a powerful connection between motherhood and leadership. “Being a mom means practicing patience, love, and self-control—all qualities that translate directly into running a business. A company is like a baby you’re raising.”
Looking Ahead
With plans to continue growing Glam’s service offerings and nurture Gather by Glam into a community hub, Ashlee is excited for what lies ahead—and maybe even passing the torch one day.
“We plan on keeping up with the greatest and best techniques for massages, facials, and nail services to keep growing personally and for the clients.”
“I’d love to hand it off in 20 years. Maybe to one of my kids, or a fabulous daughter-in-law,” she jokes. “We love bringing the brand to life and having a lot of laughs and memories through the process, but the reason for creating the businesses is to do what I love and having a set retirement date for someone else to take over and enjoy the benefits. Maybe I will get some good daughter-in-laws one day and still see the business thrive through my kids.”
Being named Person to Watch is a meaningful milestone. “It makes me feel so special to have this chance to show off my hard work, improvements, future and success!”
And with her drive, passion, and deep roots in the community, there’s no doubt: Ashlee Perkins is one to watch, not just this year, but for many more to come.
