How I Love You

By Sharmen Oswald Foothills Writers Guild Member

I love you like a river running free

Your love taking me to places unseen

Knowing that we have a strength between

Through valleys, rocky crags flowing to sea.

I love you as a young woman pining

The comfort of safe home wrapped up in you

Discerning what is rightly good and true

For first love, pricking the heart divining.

I love you as an old woman recalls

Time and age have replaced with constancy

Tender moments and whatever befalls.

I love you today and eternity

As time is but a vapor, together

We love each other, that is certainty.
