The Anderson County Humane Society is brewing up something special this weekend — a Hocus Pocus Fundraiser filled with music, costumes, and community spirit, all for a great cause. The event takes place this Saturday at 6 p.m. at 1625 Broadway Lake Road in Anderson, offering guests a chance to have some fun while helping local animals in need.
Set along the scenic shores of Broadway Lake, the event promises a fun, upbeat atmosphere with a DJ spinning funky old favorites, plenty of dancing, and delicious food. Guests are encouraged to come dressed for the occasion — whether in Halloween costumes or their best 70s and 80s throwback attire — and enjoy both the indoor and outdoor spaces overlooking the lake.
“It’s going to be a really fun night,” says Wanda Crane of the Anderson County Humane Society. “We’ll have music, dancing, costumes, and great food — it’s just a good time for everyone, and it supports such an important cause.”
A Night Full of Treats — and a Few Tricks
One of the evening’s main attractions will be the silent auction, which features an eclectic mix of items — “everything from a Roomba to a tour package and many other surprises,” Wanda shared. Every bid helps fund the Humane Society’s vital work in Anderson County.
Supporting Anderson’s Animals in Need
For those who may not be familiar, the Anderson County Humane Society (ACHS) focuses on helping needy animals throughout the community. Money raised from events like Hocus Pocus directly supports ACHS programs, including the spay/neuter clinic, sheltering efforts, feeding programs, and medical care for local pets.
But the need is greater than ever. “The biggest challenge right now — for every animal welfare group — is the unbelievable number of dogs and cats that are just being dumped everywhere,” Wanda explained. “Everyone is full. Please — keep your animals. We’re doing everything we can, but we need the community’s help.”
The Real Magic: Community Support
As costs continue to rise and the number of homeless animals grows, community support has never been more essential. “With people stepping up — whether by donating, fostering, or volunteering — we can keep our mission alive,” Wanda said. “Every bit of help makes a difference.”
Those who want to get involved can volunteer at ACHS’s clinic or shelter, sign up as foster caregivers, or donate to support the organization’s lifesaving work.
So grab your witch’s hat, lace up your dancing shoes, and head to Broadway Lake for an evening where fun meets purpose. The Anderson County Humane Society’s Hocus Pocus Fundraiser proves that when this community comes together, a little magic can go a long way.
