Charleston has long been known for its world-class food, vibrant music scene, and destination-worthy charm, but once a year, the Holy City becomes home to one of the largest craft beer festivals in the country. The Charleston Beer Festival is back in 2025 — and it’s shaping up to be the biggest and boldest yet.

A Festival That’s Always Evolving
This year’s upgrades make it clear: the team behind the Charleston Beer Festival isn’t just pouring drinks; they’re raising the bar. General Admission guests will get the chance to sample taproom-only beers from every brewery, turning the event into what feels like 75 taprooms all in one place.
For those looking for the ultimate experience, the VIP package is brimming with perks: a larger sailcloth tent, catered Lowcountry-inspired light bites, and 13 exclusive VIP-only beers (some available nowhere else). Guests can also look forward to an all-inclusive bar, custom tasting glasses, swag bags, lounge seating, air-conditioned restroom trailers, and early entry.
As Richard Reams, one of the festival’s organizers, put it:
“It gets bigger every year with more breweries coming from around the country to introduce their beer to the Charleston market. It’s now the biggest beer fest in the state and one of the biggest in the country.”
Drink Beer. Do Good.
At its heart, the Charleston Beer Festival is about more than craft brews — it’s about community impact. The festival benefits Palmetto Community Care, which has been supporting those living with HIV and AIDS for more than three decades. Last year alone, their team logged over 21,000 client contacts, helped nearly 600 people find stable housing, paid more than $5.6 million for life-saving medications, and ensured hundreds more had access to healthcare and meals.
“Drink Beer. Do Good. is more than just a catchphrase,” Reams emphasized. “Every pint poured helps us keep our mission alive.”
Breweries Bringing the Flavor
With over 20 breweries traveling in from out of state, the 2025 lineup is as diverse as it is impressive. Highlights include:
- The Veil Brewing Co. (Richmond, VA), debuting a 49-month barrel-aged stout in the VIP section.
- Oxbow Brewing (Maine), bringing their renowned farmhouse ales.
- Funktastic Meads, an award-winning meadery.
- Regional favorites like Hopfly Brewing and Resident Culture.
And it’s not just beer. Guests can expect ciders, meads, kombuchas, CBD seltzers, non-alcoholic beers, RTDs, and a full cocktail bar, making sure there’s something for every palate.
Food, Music, and More
Beyond the beer, the festival promises a full-day experience on the riverfront. Over 20 food trucks and 30+ craft vendors will keep guests fueled and entertained, while a stacked music lineup and giant TV trailer ensure no one misses their favorite college football games. Yard games like cornhole, giant Jenga, and badminton add to the laid-back, communal vibe.
Why Charleston? Why Now?
Charleston isn’t just the backdrop — it’s part of the experience. With beer week events happening all over the city and a comedy show the Sunday after the festival, visitors can easily make a long weekend of it. Great hotel partners round out the package, making it easy to see why Charleston continues to rank as one of the Top 10 Vacation Destinations in the U.S.
When asked about his favorite part of festival day, Reams doesn’t hesitate:
“Honestly, it’s just walking through the crowd and meeting someone who’s having a great time — maybe even trying their new favorite beer.”
Looking Ahead
The vision for the Charleston Beer Festival is ambitious. Reams sees the event growing into a multi-day festival and cementing itself as the premier beer event in the Southeast.
Until then, 2025 promises to be another record-breaking year of craft brews, community spirit, and unforgettable memories — all under the Charleston sun.
