The Anderson County Library System is excited to announce the opening of its fourth LEAP Station – a unique “Library of Things” at the Powdersville Library on Thursday, July 25th.
Among libraries, it’s typically called a ‘Library of Things’, but The Anderson County Library System calls it The LEAP Station. LEAP, which stands for Learn, Experience, Adventure, Play, is a growing collection of non-traditional items that library cardholders can check out. The LEAP Station is a stand-out section in the library, with its own unique branding, that offers everything from pickleball and disc golf sets to metal detectors, games, puzzles, state park and museum passes, and more. The collection is designed to encourage hands-on learning, outdoor activity, creativity, and family fun – all free with a library card.
“With the LEAP Stations, we’re expanding what people think a library can offer,” said Library Director Annie Sutton. “Whether you’re planning a trip to a State Park, learning a new hobby, or just trying something fun without having to buy it, LEAP makes it possible.”
The Powdersville Branch Library joins Anderson Main Library, Pendleton Branch, and Iva Branch in hosting a LEAP Station. Each location offers a slightly different selection based on community needs and space, but all are accessible to Anderson County Library cardholders*.
“We’re so excited to bring the LEAP Station to Powdersville,” said Miriam Church, Powdersville Branch Library Manager. “We know our patrons are going to love having access to such a wide variety of items – whether that’s for a family outing, STEAM learning at home, or trying something totally new. There’s something to check out.”
The Powdersville Branch Library is located at 4 Civic Court, Powdersville. To view LEAP Station item availability, please visit: https://www.andersonlibrary.org/leap-station
