Seasonal

Reach for the Jacket- Y’all-

Happy Fall, Y’all. These words seem to echo across the upstate and everywhere right now. The promise of cooler temperatures and bonfires has folks pulling out the pumpkins, sweaters and of course Starbucks is back with those Pumpkin Lattes. Then there is Denver Downs, that fabulous piece of farmland which runs along Clemson Boulevard on the way to God’s country (Clemson University as some swear by) just a bit off the interstate situated on the left and run by the Garrison family. Tickets are 29.95 for a daily admission which means on weekends, Fridays through Sundays beginning September 26th through November 9th. If you are bold enough and need more corn maze action and live music on Friday evenings, purchase the pass for 49.95. Then if you have kiddos under the age of three- they are free. Look at the foodies, pumpkins, adult, and children’s beverages and sit awhile.

It is also time to prepare for attending Homecoming at Clemson University, which takes place November 1stwith the Duke University football team coming to visit us here in the foothills. But there is a lot that leads up to that- the fraternity and sorority organizations and other school related folks which come together and make those beautiful floats for the Homecoming parade the night before. Do not be surprised if you see a Devil in a Blue dress being burned to the ground- in preparation for the annual roasting of the ACC opponent on Saturday.

There is also Mad World, which has been voted the “scariest haunted house in the state of South Carolina”. This can be found just off interstate 85 in Piedmont, South Carolina, less than thirty minutes from Clemson and Denver Downs. Tickets can be purchased online covering self-guided tours beginning at 40.00 each to those super-fast passes with no lines of 70.00 dollars. Why heck they even have a season pass available for 195.00. Beware, this place is not for the faint of heart as they are known for the axe throwing zombie shoots and ghost town mini golf. Whatever your fancy one of these three spots promises to entertain and produce some happy folks for the fall season. Now I need to grab myself a Latte, visit Denver Downs, plan for Clemson’s 2025 Homecoming, and think about who I want to protect me with a visit to Mad World.
