Photographer Teresa Bernard hosted a fund raising event to benefit the Franklin County Humane Society.
Franklin County friends and neighbors often join efforts to benefit a worthy cause. If you passed through Rocky Mount on July 3rd and July 5th you may have seen some of our "four- legged furry friends" entering Studio Belle Visage on Franklin Street to benefit their less fortunate friends!
Photographer Teresa Bernard invited pet owners to bring their pets to her studio to have pet portraits done to benefit the Franklin County Humane Society. Fourteen pet owners participated in this event that earned $350 for the Franklin County Humane Society. While she had hoped for more participation, Teresa said that considering the current state of the economy she feels it was a successful fund raising event and definitely plans to repeat "Bow Wow Visage". Participating pets ranged from a small Maltese to a very large New Foundland! While the primary goal of the event was to benefit the Franklin County Humane Society financially, it also offered Teresa an opportunity to exhibit her work with pets while giving the community a unique way to support a worthy cause.
Each pet owner received a goodie bag and a 5 x 7 photograph of their pet. Several downtown Rocky Mount businesses participated to help make this effort a successful event. Teresa Bernard donated a 5 x 7 print of each pet to their owner and donated all session fees to the Franklin County Humane Society. Magnolia Lane, Picture It Framed and the Vintage Spa offered discount coupons and J & J Fashions provided pet themed neck scarves for the pet owners...as for the pets, they received special doggie treats prepared just for them by Edible Vibe!
The pet owners who participated were very pleased with their pet portrait experience. More pet owners have contacted Teresa since the event asking for information and wanting to participate in the next event, so we can look forward to another opportunity to help more of our less fortunate friends.
