Franklin County author, Lona Greer Watson, has always enjoyed reading.  After completing her education, unable to find employment, she realized "I have always read and I have always had in the back of my mind I could produce a book."  With that thought in place, in 2003 she made a decision to use the knowledge she learned pursuing her education for another pursuit, to research and write that book!  "Nocturne" is the result of her efforts.

A native of Franklin County, Watson holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in criminal justice.  While in graduate school she was enrolled in a "Holistic Counseling" class and developed the plot and theme for "Nocturne".  In her book she draws attention to the limited accountability of the behaviors and actions of the members of our judicial system, while the primary character struggles to come to terms with and escape the anguish that has consumed her life.

Watson tells us that many authors "write what they know", but is quick to point out that "Nocturne" is not a memoir.  She used her educational background and interest in research to gather information to allow her to create the characters and develop the plot.  She noted that she prefers to write in a third person omniscient writing style to allow the reader to be aware of what each of the characters are thinking and how their interactions impact one another.  Watson also has a talent for photography; the  photograph that is the cover image for "Nocturne" is the result of a time she  describes as "a summer spent chasing fireworks".

March 15th Watson held a book signing at Ferrum College Bookstore to introduce her book to the community.  "Nocturne" is available for purchase at amazon.com and other online book sellers and at major university bookstores including Ferrum College.  Now that "Nocturne" is on bookshelves and in readers' hands, she is already planning her second and third books.  She invites the readers of  "Nocturne" to submit a review at amazon.com.
