The Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center honored Rubie Meadows.
The Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center is a place where young people come first. Friday, February 8th, the staff and volunteers of the Rocky Mount SVCAC office joined together to recognize a special person who is young at heart!
The temporary office of the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center was filled with guests waiting quietly to surprise Rubie Meadows with a luncheon to celebrate her 90th birthday. Rubie works with the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center and brings 90 years of wisdom to the office with joy and enthusiasm. Joyce Moran addressed the guests and expressed her appreciation for Rubie's efforts on the SVCAC's behalf. When asked how she felt about the birthday celebration, Rubie humbly replied that she couldn't believe that all of this was for her!
In addition to working with the SVCAC, Rubie is a member of the Morningside Baptist Church choir and visits local nursing homes with her fellow choir members to sing to the residents. In her free time she enjoys working with flowers and gardening. She is an example to all those who know her as she makes the most of her talents and abilities.
