If you were not at Crazy Horse Marina Saturday July 19, you missed out on a great party. Wakeboard riders from all over converged on Crazy Horse Marina for a day of spectacular wake riding not to mention the great party atmosphere.
As the participants took to the water one by one, they were cheered on by an estimated crowd of 300 or more which were lining the boardwalk and floating docks of the marina. The place to be during the day was in the water; even though the day was mostly overcast with the sun popping in and out of the clouds, the temperature climbed into the 90’s which was just right for a party in the lake.
This is the sixth year that this event has taken place at Smith Mountain Lake, and hopefully it will not be the last. The competition was an all ages competition with age groups ranging from under 13 to over 40.
The weekend of Wakeboarding began on Friday July 18, at Bridgewater Plaza with a demonstration by the Liquid Force Team, with the “double up” competition at the “Cliffs” bringing the weekend to a close on Sunday.
The event was sponsored by Liquid Force, Wake N Skate, and the Virginia Commonwealth Games.
